Yes. Evien Physiotherapy offers private physiotherapy in your own home, removing the need to travel and allowing treatment to be tailored to your everyday environment.

Can physiotherapy help prevent falls?

Do you work with clients who use walking aids or wheelchairs?
Yes. Treatment is fully adapted for clients who use walking frames, sticks, or wheelchairs, focusing on safe transfers, posture, and functional movement.
Your First Appointment
What happens during the first visit?
Your first appointment will include:

How long does an appointment last?
Appointments usually last 45–60 minutes, depending on individual needs.
Do I need a GP referral?
No GP referral is required for private physiotherapy. However, with your consent, we are happy to liaise with your GP, consultant, or other healthcare professionals.
What should be worn for the session?
Comfortable clothing that allows free movement is ideal. Supportive footwear is helpful if available.
Safety & Comfort
Is physiotherapy safe for very elderly or frail clients?
Yes. All treatment is carefully adapted to the individual’s health, energy levels, and medical conditions. Safety, comfort, and dignity are always prioritised.
What if my loved one is anxious or in pain?
We take a calm, reassuring approach and work at a pace that feels comfortable. Sessions are always adjusted based on how the client is feeling on the day.
Ongoing Care & Progress
How many sessions will be needed?
This varies depending on individual goals and circumstances. Some clients require short-term rehabilitation, while others benefit from ongoing support to maintain mobility and independence.
How soon will improvements be seen?
Many clients notice small but meaningful improvements within the first few sessions, such as increased confidence, reduced stiffness, or easier movement.
Are exercises provided between visits?
Yes. Simple, safe exercises are provided where appropriate, with clear guidance for clients and carers.
Family, Carers & Communication
Can family members or carers be involved?
Yes. Family members and carers are welcome to attend sessions and can be shown how to support safe movement, transfers, and exercises.
Do you communicate with other healthcare professionals?
With consent, Evien Physiotherapy can liaise with GPs, district nurses, occupational therapists, or other professionals involved in care.
Equipment & Home Environment
Do I need special equipment at home?
Usually not. Most exercises use everyday household items. If helpful, we can advise on simple equipment or mobility aids.
Do you bring equipment with you?
Yes. We bring any small equipment needed for assessment and treatment.
Can you advise on home safety?
Yes. We can offer guidance on reducing fall risks and improving safety within the home.
